Usher shines in gold jacket he attends Cannes bash

It's that time of the year again, when all the stars flock to Cannes.

Usher made sure to stand out from the pack as he attended a bash honouring his Hands Of Stone co-star, Robert De Niro.
The 37-year-old looked spectacular in a shimmering gold jacket as he posed alongside Hands Of Stone director Jonathan Jakubowicz, and stars Ana de Armas and Edgar Ramírez.

Joining the cast and director was the real life subject of the film, boxer Roberto Duran.
And the hit-maker couldn't have looked happier as he pulled the boxing icon in for a warm embrace.

Usher stars as boxer Sugar Ray Leonard in the upcoming Hands Of Stone biopic, which is about Roberto Duran (Ramírez) and his trainer Ray Arcel (De Niro).
De Niro's character of Ray Arcel was a boxing trainer who worked from the 1920s through to the 1990s before passing away in 1994.

Among some of the champions he trained were Larry Holmes, Freddie Steele, Alfonso Frazier and Abe Goldstein.
He had retired from the business when he was brought back to work with Roberto Duran.
Roberto Duran was a Pananmian boxer, who is still regarded as one of the greatest boxers of all time and his nickname in the ring was 'Manos de Piedra' which translates to 'Hands of Stone'.

He retired from boxing in 2002 at the age of 50 after a car crash in Argentina to promote his salsa music album.
'He's more than a national hero—he's like the soul of Panama,' Venezuelan-born Edgar told Men's Fitness about Duran. 'Everyone has a story with Roberto. Everyone has an anecdote with him at a or a park or a restaurant. He embodies the soul of the country. It’s really amazing.'

Usher, meanwhile, completely threw himself into preparing for the role of Sugar Ray.
'I transformed my body,' he told Radio.com. 'I thought like a boxer, I ate like a boxer, I moved like a boxer.'
Hands Of Stone will be released on August 26.
