British singer Rita Ora has never been on my good side. Besides an incredible feature on Iggy Azalea's successful "Black Widow", the artist has failed to impress with generic cuts such as "How We Do (Party)", "Radioactive" and "Poison"... oh but Miss Ora has gone and proved me all wrong with her latest single release, the sultry "Body On Me" featuring bad boy Chris Brown.
Serviced as the second single from her upcoming, untitled sophomore album, the new "Body On Me" is a huge step in the right direction for Ora who has had some trouble finding her footing in the music industry. Instead of trotting down the generic dance track route, the artist stays true to her better suited R&B/urban flavor for an effort that sounds like a Beyonce leftover... not a bad comparison.
From the attention-grabbing, tribal introduction to the first taste of Ora's sexy, commanding vocal performance, the track instantly has the "chart dominating" vibe. The hook, the songwriting that leaves little to the imagination, and the perfect chemistry with Brown add to its power. "Heyo, heyo, I just wanna feel your body on me, heyo, heyo, if you want it then you got it, hold me," the artists sings on the radio friendly chorus.
Listeners could be tired of giving Ora chances to become a pop phenomenon, they could also ignore the track for Brown's contribution and his past doses of negative publicity, but "Body On Me" truly deserves to be heard. The intriguing release sounds effortless, there are noticeable sparks between the two artists, and the R&B inspirations allow the song to become this summer's steamy bedroom jam.
"Body On Me" could be the song that reignites Ora and Brown's careers. Rightfully so. The release plays out as a proper duet which builds until the two unite for a hook that's both naughty and nice. The seductive nature, the solid performances and the confidence make for a future chart topper that Queen B, Rihanna or Ciara wish they had gotten their hands on.
