Audi Teases Six New RS Models, A Handful Should Debut In Frankfurt

Audi is celebrating the 25th anniversary of the RS 2 Avant and the company has now released a teaser image showing six upcoming models.

The automaker is staying tight-lipped on specifics, but the first two models appear to be the RS6 Avant and RS7 Sportback.

Both models are expected to debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show next month and are rumored to use a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine that could up to 641 hp (478 kW / 650 PS). Previous spy photos have also shown we can expect an aggressive front fascia, a sport-tuned suspension and massive wheels that are backed up by a high-performance braking system. They’ll also have a dual exhaust and a modestly revised interior with plenty of carbon fiber trim.

Continuing down the line, the next two models could be the RS Q3 and RS Q3 Sportback. Both are slated to have a turbocharged 2.5-liter five-cylinder engine that produces around 414 hp (309 kW / 420 PS). The engine will reportedly be connected to a dual-clutch transmission that sends power to a standard quattro all-wheel drive system.

The fifth model is the most mysterious of the group, but its headlights mimic those used on the facelifted A4 and S4. As a result, the car could be the RS4 Avant.

Spy photographers snapped pictures of the facelifted wagon earlier this summer and it will likely use a familiar twin-turbo 2.9-liter V6 engine that develops 444 hp (331 kW / 450 PS) and 443 lb-ft (600 Nm) of torque. It enables the current model to rocket from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 4.1 seconds, before hitting at top speed of up to 174 mph (280 km/h).

Last but not least, the final model is the RS Q8. It’s expected to have a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 with up 641 hp (478 kW / 650 PS). That’s the same output as the Lamborghini Urus, so there has been some speculation that the engine could be detuned for use by the four-ringed brand.

While Audi is staying quiet, we’ll see the models soon enough as the company has previously said there will be “six further product innovations” this year including two “completely new RS models.”
