After officially launching his recording career with "Easy" alongside Simon Jeffreris in 2018, English singer-songwriter Benedict Cork quickly caught the attention of fellow artists Tom Walker, Adam Lambert, and Elton John.
Following a string of EP releases over the subsequent years, which included standout numbers such as "Funny How Things Change" and "Choices", Cork entered 2021 with "All My Famous Friends".
The artist follows it up today with the bittersweet "Have A Good Life (See You Never)", written with Hannah Yadi and Mack Jamieson.
While most might crumble and sob for days following a romantic break up, Cork exudes initial feelings of happiness and relief. With a gorgeous choir in his corner for support, the artist relishes in the new freedom and readies himself for better days ahead.
"Have A Good Life (See You Never)" is harsh, snarky, and yet, still heartfelt and emotional. We've all been in unhealthy relationships, unsure why we feel we deserve all the fights and lies. Well, why not let the relationship parasite do all the hard work for you and leave first?
"Have a good life, I'll see you never, pumping my first, we're not together, yeah I never really liked your mama, goodbye love, cheers to the drama," Cork sings with daggers.
No, he isn't going to say a final goodbye to your friends. No, he is not going to apologize to your family. Cork is going to raise a glass, leave the broken pieces on the floor, and move on without a second thought.
Cork's vocals do much of the heavy lifting on "Have A Good Life (See You Never)", with the aforementioned choir adding impactful, soulful layers to the finished product. However, the personal and authentic writing is a cherry atop the artist's strongest release to date.
